Neighbors for Clean Water

email blast header

The Town of Bluffton, in partnership with Beaufort County, is proud to announce the Neighbors for Clean Water initiative. We'll be working together to raise awareness about how water pollution from pet waste affects the May River, and encouraging pet owners to be responsible and "Scoop the Poop."

According to a recent survey, we know that most May River area pet owners support -- and practice -- responsible pet care habits. We found that:

  • 77% of your neighbors agree that "Responsible neighbors pick up after their pet in public areas"
  • 71% of your neighbors agree that "Responsible neighbors pick up after their pet on private property"
  • 57% of your neighbors agree that "I am aware of which neighbors leave pet waste in public areas"
  • 62% of your neighbors agree that "I am aware of which neighbors leave pet waste in their yards"

We need your help. We are calling on all May River area pet owners to take the "Scoop the Poop" pledge. By signing this pledge, you'll be taking responsibility for your pet's waste and setting an example for others who may not know as much about this issue as you do.

Here's how it works:

It's not just good for the May River- you could win a prize! When you pledge to clean your yard at least once a week, we'll enter your name in a drawing to have a "Doggie Dooley" septic system installed in your yard.
